this one shows the 1/4" round bar i welded to the core support where i had cut it to give back some stiffness. and to deal with the t-shirt and arm shredding edge

i ordered some brake line parts and header gaskets the other day. should be here tomorrow. i also decided to build new PS hoses so i ordered the adapters for those, that may be next week.

well, i installed the headers. they are hooker comps designed for a 67-72 chevy 4x4 with a big block. i had to modify one tube a little to make them work, but it only took an hour or so.

i also used a mid 80s chevy truck throttle cable and got it installed. tomorrow i will make the cable attach to the pedal.

unfortunately i managed to lose my camera while skiing the other day, so progress pics may be few and far between until i get another camera.

have brake lines routed to the rear axle now. i installed a bias valve in the rear hardline as well and got the line fastened securely to the frame. i also got the axle hard lines installed and the tabs for the caliper soft lines.

i ended up with some of that napa polymer coated steel line, and i like it alot. i wish our napa had started carrying it sooner.

last week sometime i installed the inner fenders and they really made the engine bay look alot better.

i also fixed a boken steering arm stud today and made the arm side of the steering double shear. i think i am going to get a waggy drop pitman so i can fix the slight angle of the drag link and also make the pitman side a double shear as well

Not much happened since the last post, but i did get the rear disk swap parts all gathered up. i had ordered some weld on claiper brackets from AA Mfg. but they were far to short. i ended up making my own on the plasmacam. so that is finall installed. tommorow the front axle swap happens to get the 4.56:1 D60F and then hopefully i can get the brakes all buttoned up and functional.

i also fabbed up some front shock hoops out of 1.5" DOM. hopefully next week i can borrow a camera and get some pics posted

Looks like things are progressing nicely.....keep up the good work.
By the way...what was the issue with the header?

the number 6 cylinder tube hit the firewall. it could have been cured with 3/4" of firewall hammering, but i couldn't get to it with the engine in. the tube hit the firewall just below the heater box and pretty close to the head. i wasn't about to pull the engine and all i had to do was cut the bends out of the tube and change how they were positioned. i ended up making the primary about 1.5 inches shorter, but they weren't equall length headers anyhow, so i see no issue with it. i imagine they would have fit without any issue had i not pushed the engine so far back. i worked the firewall pretty good to get clearance for the even side head to fit. i also used a stock long water pump and mechanical fan. had i used the short set up and an electric or non clutch fan i would have been able to have the engine further forward and the headers may have fit fine. overall i am glad i pushed it back as far as i did and the off the shelf headers fit fine around everthing else. modifying one tube is way better than building headers from scratch, and i was guessing thats what i would have to do if i wanted long tubes

the axles have been swapped, now i just have to re attach everything on the bosses blazer and my truck.

i wish i had a camera. the bosses blazer rides on 325/85-16 XMLs and they are on the front of my truck now. it looks awesome

put in 12 hours at the shop today. got all the little crumbs swapped over and finished th front brakelines. did a front to back run tightening all of the tubing nuts on the hard lines and the hard to soft junctions. got to the rear drop line tee and stripped the darn thing. so i had to re design the wheel, but i got it done and now have a fully functional brake system.

12 hours??? You lucky b@stard :) I can barely get 12 minutes. Nice truck, I would love to do the whole GM drivetrain swap some day.

i guess i am lucky, but if i want it to ever be finished, work must be done to it. thankfully the wife was off shopping with her friends so i was left alone to work.

i tell ya after a 12 hour day of crawling around on the floor i felt like i got in a fight with a bulldozer. my knees and shoulders hurt awfuly last night, and i smashed my elbow on a leaf spring yesterday and its all stiff and sore today. i guess just par for the course.

i am pretty excited to have a functional set of brakes to go along with the gas pedal and clutch pedal that both work. now i jsut need wiring and fuel system along with drivelines...

Ryan, you're reminding me how much I want to have a lift for my repowering project... I'll have to see if the only guy I know with a lift wants to give it up for a couple months... :)
