Steering wheel adapter
Did a search and found no results.
I was poking around a salvage yard yesterday and found a really sweet steering wheel in a dark tan color that matches the interior and top. I figured since it came out of an old wagoneer it'd fit?!? Just had to have it. It has a shallower profile so I can get my fat gut in behind it easier and the wheel isn't always right in my lap.
After much swearing, pounding and a quick trip to Harbor freight for a steering wheel puller I finally got the old one off. Tried to test fit it on the splines and it wouldn't go on....dang!
Question is: will it fit or do I need an adapter? If I do need one does anyone know which one to ask for?

If it is a pre 74 wheel an looks like the stock one....16 inches top to bottom, 17 inches side to side and 2 spokes, then it should fit.
I have seen them in different colors, but for the manual steering setups, they are the same wheel...just the color changed.
I guess I dont know if the power steering equipped ones use a different wheel mount pattern...
If its 74 and up, forget it fitting a stock column.

Adapter....JC Whitney sed to carry them...they are not online at their site anymore but are supposed to be in their catalog..."your vehicle" will be a 1967 Gladiator pickup...doesnt matter the motor or model...tell them its a J2700 if they need a number.
Thats how I got mine...but anymore I cant find them online.

Just picked up an Grant adapter, # 4403, cost, $30.00.

i have a grant wheel on mine, i dont know how its mounted, but i can check it oout since i need to fix it anywase

If that was an OEM steering wheel it should have been manufactured with the splines integral to the wheel. Those adapters work with universal 3-bolt (or similar) steering wheels. If the splines don't match I'd guess the best way is to either modify the stock column or swap to a late model column.
