Just one of the many time burning thoughts running through my head but has anyone here that you know of ever done a frame swap from a hmmwv to a 715? I have always wanted to try it but $, time, and a donor frame never lined up for me. I haven't ever been a huge fan of the hmmwv but do like the ground clearance it offers and somewhat improved ride.
Remember how little those things articulate.
True but stock suspension doesn't do so great either and for some reason I can't bring myself to take any out.
The stock suspension does better than the Hummer stuff LOL
and taking a leaf out is much easier than swapping bodies.
Well there is one more thing that has kept me from persuing it too far. I've heard that they are bad about the axle shafts being thrown and the gear unit on each corner having problems. Always felt the clearance was the best thing about them and it would look cool under the truck. Hate backin up to clear rocks and the added resistance of draggin big diffs through the mud.
A pair of Unimog portal axles would be MUCH MUCH cheaper than a HMMWV rolling chassis, would give you at least as much clearance and would be MUCH easier to install.
