Been searching for a Dana 60 and a 14 bolt to throw under the frame...
Asked a guy a work, who called a friend said he had both from a 1984 1 ton chevy. I asked how much, expecting the standard $1000 for the front and $300 for the 14 bolt. $400 for the set, he said, but I have to take the front axle off the truck, WHAT? Ok, sold!! When I showed up I found the exact drive train that I Have to put in the M715 a 6.2L with TH400 married to a 208 tc. Low miles and all those spair parts. (I may have to figure out how to put a 6.2L into a Ford BII rock crawler) I asked how much he wanted for the truck, he thought for a minute and said $600!!
I fainted.... The truck came off Hill AFB and only had 18,000 miles on it. Ok so my wife has to sacrifice some landscaping... but I convinced her that the boy's truck has to have the axles to keep him safe. The steering box came out of a 2 wd so I can keep the cross over steering, Power steering. The Heater/AC on the box could be useful... Had a brain fart to convert the box into a removeable ATV hauler, like a camper.
I am so pumped... my chevy buddies are jelous cause the doors were in perfect condition... and the body has very little wrong with it.
One guy said that I should move the axle mount under the frame to line up better with the new axles. It looked easier than making a weird spring perch on the axle. I think I will move the mounts on the frame. He also suggested longer springs for more flex and travel. Any thoughts?

My forklift was easier to use than the backhoe. 2 hours to load, 1/2 hour to take off.
