In my conversion to 12volts, I've finally come to the distributor. The dist. I bought from a junk yard is one beat up sucker; however, everything seems to work. I bought the recommended cap from NAPA and the clips on the side of the distributor are about an inch and a half too long for the indentations on the cap. Anybody got an answer for this? Any suggestions for a fix (I can bend them but am reluctant: don't think I could find replacements). Anyone know of a distributor reman. service I could send this to for an overhaul? Absent any of this, anybody got a good civilian distributor they wish to part with?

A friend who has a collection of some amazing things had some cap clips that worked. I still would like to know of a company that will overhaul our distributors if anyone knows of such.

I took mine apart and cleaned it up and put it back together. Theres not much to it, except the camming part of the mechanical advance can go on two differnt ways and I dont know if I put it back on right because I have yet to fire it back up. The camming part has a notch in it to align the roter so if put in wrong timing will be 180 out. Take pictures or good notes first because the manuals will not help you on this one. The spings for the mecanical advace can be replaced but I have no idea where to get the right ones. Jegs sells a kit of different mech advace springs, that might help.....

Thanks. I think I'll take this on. Rainy weekend coming up. I'll check on the advance springs from Jegs.
