sprm715 : Roll cage question?

I am finishing my ext cab m715 and a good friend is finishing his
standard Cab M715. I have 2 trucks that need to have roll cages put in. What is a fair price? I have been quoted 950 for the ext cab and 850 for the standard cab. I did all the metal work on both trucks and that seems a bit steep for someone to bend some tubbing. I know steel is high but not that high. Also is there anyone in the midwest that has the equip that wants to make a few dollars speak up and I can bring 2 trucks to you. I am almost learning to go and buy a bender. Please let me know what a fair price would be.

MIdwest as in where? I'm in central Iowa.

Too busy right now, but you're certainly welcome to come over and use my equipment. Model 3 Bender and Tig/wire/stick...whatever you wish to use. Drop a couple bucks in a hat for wear and tear on the machines and consumables.

$950 is slightly on the high side, but if it's a good shop that does good work, it's not that high.
Doing a cage right takes a fair amount of labor. Locally I've been quoted between $1250 at the overpriced place, and about $750 at the place that loves me. They hook me up pretty good though.

What kinda material? 2" DOM can run up around $6+ a foot and youll need at least 3 - 20 footers. Add in a days labor at anywhere from 50 -100 bucks an hour and your quote seems fair to me.

Depending on exactly what you are getting, it doesn't sound like too bad of a price.

For a comparison, I was quoted around $900 to add a custom front section to the stock rear on my TJ.

If it were me, I'd be willing to pay extra for a cage from a shop with a great reputation. A 715 is a heavy vehicle and the quality behind the cage could save your life.

That price isn't too bad, esp if they get the fit just right. My cage doesn't fit as nicely as I'd like it to, but I also did it myself. Someday I'll cut it out and re-do a better one with nicer fit, but that takes trial and error, which of course costs you in time and tube.

You get what you pay for.
