Fuel filler unit
Could someone please post up the dimensions of the fuel filler unit that bolts to the bed and has the gas cap on it? My truck doesn't have one and the rig the PO put in for the rear mounted tank isn't worth dirt. So, since I'll have to change it anyway, I figured that I would build something similar to the original unit, but with more readily available parts. Thanks

The metal piece? I have one somewhere....I'll see if I can get time to measure it...
I know the bottom outlet is 4.25 inches...the tank has a 3 inch inlet...the hose between has to reduce from the one to the other...might be something you want to do away with so you can use a standard 3 inch neoprene hose instead of trying to get adapters together or buying an NOS hose for around $100...

Thanks Brute, those numbers will get me close enough. The fill piece I've got is 3" OD at the mounting flange and setup for a 1.5" fill hose. I need to measure the tank again, but I seem to remember it being a 2" OD neck. I figure I'll make a transfer tube from point A to point B out of aluminum, copper, or brass tubing(whatever pops up first) and a 1.5" Gates 90* fuel elbow is only $25. So I'll only be in this for the roughly $50 it cost me for the elbow and filler head. Thanks again.

I know the stock tank is 3 inch OD and the filler 4.25...I have looked at getting something to replace the stock filler hose, even stainless, and had to have the measures of course to look into that...

OK so I've linked in the pictures of what I've got so far. All of my parts haven't showed up yet so I'll add more pics as I get them. My total investment so far is $60 for parts and shipping. I was lucky and found a 6' chuck of aluminum tubing that had the right OD in our scrap pile at work, so that was a big money saver. Anyway check out the pics and let me know what you think.
